What makes a Firelands Portrait so special?

Every Firelands Portrait starts with either professional film or a digital file created on a professional digital camera.  In either case, the image is color corrected and resized by hand to the ultimate dimensions for the application.  Retouching is available on all images and some artwork is possible for many situations.  

The image is sent to a professional photographic laboratory where it is printed on the latest digital printers by Fuji or Kodak on their best, professional photographic paper.  Each image is inspected by hand for flaws and if any are found, it is reprinted until perfect.

Photographs for our professional albums are mounted using archival mounts for permanence.  Album portraits float in their mounts to allow the pages to turn and for changes in environment.  All finished albums present the image without using plastic covers over the pages.  While the image is exposed somewhat and can be damaged easier, the plastic pages reflect light and give an amateurish feel to albums using them.

Photographs mounted in our library albums are assembled by the album manufacturer.  They permanently mount the photograph directly to the page.  The album is then sewn together and the cover attached.  This album is made just like library books used to be, with care and pain staking attention to detail. 

Gift prints are placed into photographic folder mounts which help protect the print.  The print may be removed for framing.

Wall portraits may be mounted and coated for additional protection against abrasion, environmental pollutants and ultra-violet radiation.  Deluxe prints over 11x14 include this service and are ready to frame.

Wall portraits are available with traditional matting or our new, custom mattes.  These can be color coordinated to any hue in the portrait or in your display room.

As you can see, a Firelands Portrait is a work of art, not only in the creation session, but also in the final print.
